I shipped my first product: PromptBro

Happy to say I shipped my first product. And yes, I hadn’t written a line of code since I was 16. I’m 41 now.

My career went from IT consultant to music video creative director to marketing manager to creative strategist. I think in visuals and ideas. Code was never part of the picture.

About ten days before launch I got into Claude and Claude Code, and the shift was kind of crazy. A big part of it was discovering how Nate B. Jones structures prompts. His approach to building proper prompt frameworks changed how I work. I saved his thinking into Notion, built my own templates on top of it and eventually ran it as a custom GPT. My flow became: start with voice, dump the idea raw, refine it, then open a clean chat with a proper master prompt. The difference in output quality is massive once you do it consistently.

Then a friend asked me to explain how I do it, and I realized I couldn’t explain it fast. The knowledge lived in my head, the Notion doc made no sense to someone coming in fresh, and the custom GPT assumed context I had never written down.

So one night at 8pm I just started building. No plan, just the idea. I didn’t stop until 5am. The next day at 4pm it went live.

What PromptBro does

PromptBro is a voice-first, step-by-step prompt builder. You speak or type your raw idea, and it guides you through six steps. It asks the questions you wouldn’t think to ask yourself, helps you shape the thinking, and at the end gives you a clean, structured master prompt you can drop into any model. You don’t need to know what a system prompt is. You just need an idea.

Creative director, not coder

I used Claude as my engineering team the entire way. Every component, every API route, every bug fix: I described what I wanted, reviewed the output and gave direction. I was the creative director. Claude did the building.

The bottleneck was never coding ability. It was knowing what you want clearly enough to describe it. That's been my job for 25 years.

Shout-out to Nate B. Jones. The way he teaches AI is what sparked all of this.

Try it at promptbro.io. It’s free, three prompts a day, no credit card.
